Local Brews & Cellar Doors

The Southern Highlands is famed for its cool climate wines, and cellar doors abound in the region. You can check out a tipple (and often a concert) at Centennial Vineyards, discover local craft brews at Eden Brewery, and even sample some fine liquors at Joadja Distillery. Getting Here & Getting Around

Adaville on Albert is a five-minute walk from Mittagong train station, and a short drive to the key villages of the area, including Bowral (10 min drive), Moss Vale (20 min drive) and Berrima (10 min drive). The area has a local taxi service (bookings recommended) and several bike tracks. You can also book a chauffeur service for wine tours and exploring the area. There are a number of beautiful spas in the area, including Endota Bowral, Ally Mac Massage Therapy, and the spa at Gibraltar Hotel. Mittagong’s main street is home to a Thai and also a Japanese massage offering, just a few minutes’ walk from the cottage. Local Galleries, Shops & Markets

Mittagong and the Highlands boast a thriving local market, shopping and artisan scene. Mittagong markets are held every 3rd and 5th Saturday of the month just down the road on Albert St, and . There are a range of beautiful works from local and international artists to be discovered in galleries such as Ngununggula, Michael Reid Southern Highlands and Milk Factory Gallery in Bowral. For fashion and gifts, you can’t go past the retail offerings on Bowral’s Bong Bong St, where you’ll find local boutiques, Aussie and international designer brands and a number of high street stores.

Tulips, Trails and Garden Rambles

With it’s cool climate and elevation, the region is home to some truly exquisite gardens, national parks and bushwalks. The most famous is perhaps the Tulip Time Festival held in Bowral’s Corbett Gardens in September and October (accommodation during the festival is in high demand). You can also check out the gardens at Red Cow Farm and the National Trust’s Retford Park. Hikers have much to discover in the area’s local parks, including the Fitzroy Falls walk and the Illawarra Fly (great for families), while kids delight in the playground and ducks at Lake Alexandra Reserve, a short walk from the cottage.
